Draka was founded in 1910 by Jan Teewis Duyvis. His philosophy: be passionate about your customers' needs and success will follow. This belief has enabled us to grow and change with our customers, and is as alive now as when we started.

Today, we are proud to be one of the leaders in our field. By creating solutions with and for our customers we have become the market leader in high-performance automotive cable and communication cable in Europe, market leader in North America for elevator cable, market leader in Europe in communication cable and number one in China in optical fiber and fiber optic cable.

In fact, Draka develops, engineers, manufactures and sells thousands of advanced cables and cable solutions for all kinds of applications and situations. Overall, with revenue of € 2.0 billion (2009) Draka is the eight-largest cable manufacturer in the world and the third-largest in Europe.

Equally, with over 68 factories, sales and support offices in 31 countries, and some 9,600 people working for us in Europe, the Americas, Australia and Asia Pacific, we pride ourselves on being close to our customers. Whatever they need, and wherever they need it, we are always close by.

Flat, flexible organisation
This proximity to our customers also determines the way we are organised. Draka has a flat, decentralised structure. The Holding organisation is small and lean, so ensuring our divisions have a large measure of independence. They take the lead in meeting customer needs, from sales and delivery contracts to co-development and innovation.
