Raks Thai Foundation

Raks Thai Foundation was established in 1997 as a non-profit organization under the Thai law. The history of Raks Thai however backdates from 1979 when CARE International set up its country office in Thailand to provide humanitarian support for Cambodian refugees along the Thai-Cambodian borders. CARE gradually moved into other areas of development for the Thai population. These development areas included natural resources and agriculture, livelihoods, health and education. 

In January 2003, Raks Thai Foundation became a member of CARE International becoming the first CARE member from a developing country. Today, Raks Thai’s focuses on environment and natural resources; health and HIV/AIDS prevention, care and support; livelihoods and enterprise development; education; and disaster preparedness and emergency response.
