SAIC Motor - CP Co., Ltd.

SAIC Motor-CP Co Ltd., the Thai-Chinese joint venture between, the largest automotive corporation in China, Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation Group (SAIC) and Charoen Pokphand Group (CP), one of the biggest corporation in Thailand intends to make Thailand its manufacturing base for the well-known British brand MG to serve both the local market and exports.  MG cars are expected to go on sale in Thailand in 2014 with the full production of approximate 50,000 units, primary focus on the majority segment of the market with various products in passenger car segment. The first model launch will be MG6.

The Charoen Pokphand Group late last year announced it had formed a joint venture with Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC) for first-phase investment of 9 billion baht in the manufacturing facility in Thailand. SAIC owns 51% and CP holds another 49%.
