Position Summary:
The Makerspace Assistant plays a pivotal role in supporting the Makerspace's daily operations, ensuring a safe and productive environment for students and staff. This position requires a proactive individual with a strong technical background, excellent communication skills, and a passion for encouraging creativity and innovation among students.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Technical Support & Equipment Management:
- Maintain and troubleshoot a variety of tools and equipment, including 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC machines, woodworking tools, and electronics kits.
- Prepare and set up equipment for student projects and classes.
- Monitor equipment usage and ensure proper calibration and functionality.
2. Safety Supervision & Training:
- Enforce safety protocols and guidelines within the Makerspace.
- Conduct safety inductions and training sessions for students and staff on the proper use of equipment.
- Ensure the availability and usage of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
3. Student Support & Project Assistance:
- Assist students with their projects, providing guidance on design, materials, and techniques.
- Foster a collaborative environment that encourages creativity and problem-solving.
- Support students during class sessions and after school sessions.
4. Resource Management & Inventory Control:
- Manage and organize materials and supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels.
- Order new materials as needed and track usage to minimize waste.
- Maintain an organized inventory system for tools and materials.
5. Facility Maintenance & Organization:
- Ensure the Makerspace is clean, organized, and well-maintained.
- Implement and oversee daily cleaning schedules and maintenance routines.
- Organize tools and materials in a manner that promotes efficiency and safety.
6. Documentation & Reporting:
- Keep accurate records of equipment usage, maintenance, and incidents.
- Provide regular reports to the Head of Innovation in D&T on Makerspace activities and needs.
- Assist in the development of instructional materials and user guides.
7. Professional Development & Collaboration:
- Participate in training sessions and workshops to stay updated on new technologies and techniques.
- Collaborate with faculty to integrate Makerspace activities into the curriculum.
- Contribute to the development of new programs and initiatives within the Makerspace.
