Purac was founded in 1935 and is the world largest and most experienced manufacturer of natural lactic acid and its derivatives. Purac has factories in America, Brazil, Spain, the Netherlands and Thailand.  
 
Purac’s affiliate, PURAC (Thailand) Limited, operates the most advanced and largest lactic acid plant in the world under BOI promotion with an investment of about 5,000 billion Baht. The plant is located at Asia Industrial Estate in Rayong.

The plant has successfully started its operation in January 2008 with an annual production capacity of 100,000 tons of lactic acid and 15,000 tons of lactates supporting international and domestic demand.

Purac is committed to play a leading role in the development of the market for lactic acid based bio-plastics (PLA). This is in line with the Thailand’s government’s policy to develop new environmental friendly industry that supports the reduction of environmental impact. PURAC (Thailand) Limited has received a BOI promotion and permit to build a new plant, located next to the current lactic acid plant to produce lactide , a lactic acid based ingredient for bio-plastics.
