Responsibilities
Scope of Job
The Thermal Engineer is responsible for the thermal management, analysis, and optimization of cooling system products. The role focuses on ensuring that products achieve maximum heating/cooling efficiency while maintaining reliability, performance, and compliance with engineering standards throughout the product development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform thermal modeling, calculations, and simulations (1D & 3D) to analyze and optimize system performance.
- Support refrigeration cycle design, including selection and sizing of compressors, evaporators, and condensers.
- Select and evaluate electrical and mechanical components (e.g., sensors, motors, relays) for thermal performance and system integration.
- Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, including test reports, work instructions, and design records.
- Evaluate and recommend materials (e.g., insulation, refrigerants) based on thermal conductivity and performance requirements.
- Conduct and support thermal testing and validation, including the use of sensors and data logging equipment.
- Collaborate with Product Development and cross-functional teams to improve product efficiency and reliability.
- Ensure designs align with relevant industry standards and testing requirements (e.g., AHRI, ASHRAE, DOE)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in thermal engineering or related field (fresh graduates are welcome).
- Knowledge of Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer principles.
- Understanding of Fluid Mechanics, including pressure drop and flow characteristics (laminar vs. turbulent).
- Basic understanding of refrigeration systems and thermal fundamentals.
- Familiarity with AHRI, ASHRAE, and DOE standards is an advantage.
- Basic proficiency in simulation tools (thermal / CFD).
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and BOM management.
- Ability to work with 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks).
- Hands-on experience with thermal instrumentation (e.g., sensors, data loggers) is a plus.
- Good command of English (reading and writing).
