Senior Nurse - Harrow International School Bangkok

• Manage all day to day operations of the medical services across the School
• Demonstrate effective leadership of the medical staff team ensuring the delivery of high quality first aid care to the School community
• Put in place systems to ensure effective and economic management of all resources
• Respond to changes in the care needs of the School population by ensuring adequate staffing and resources are in place
• Follow all agreed policy and procedures to assist in the control of communicable diseases through preventive immunization programs, early detection, surveillance and reporting of contagious diseases
• Maintain up to date records on the School database, ensuring ease of access to information for key staff and confidentiality as appropriate
• Ensure that all medical equipment is well maintained, safe and suitable for the medical needs of the School
• Plan and implement school health management protocols for pupils with chronic health problems, including the administration of medication
• Support in the development of procedures and policies for crises intervention for acute illness, injury and emotional disturbances
• Recommend provisions for a school environment conducive to health and
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement and mutual cooperation to achieve high standards of medical care
• Manage the medical services budget
• Maintain and refresh the stock of medical consumables and related equipment ensuring effective stock control systems and quality control
• Undertake performance appraisals of the medical team staff in line with agreed School appraisal procedure
• Organise and lead training opportunities for staff 

Nursing Specific

• Administer nursing care for emergency and non-emergency cases for students, staff and their families
• Assist transfer of patients to hospitals for further treatment as and when required
• Communicate and inform parents regarding the health status of their child/children
• Update medical files of students on school system ensuring relevant information is shared with School Nurses and academic staff
• Prepare medication and other treatment as appropriate
• Ensure the medical unit environment is clean, safe and healthy 
• Monitor medicine expiry dates and remove any expired products
• Follow agreed procedure to ensure comprehensive note taking/report writing in relation to incidents/accidents/medicine and/or treatment given to staff to a high standard on agreed template
• File abovementioned notes/records in personal files ensuring the accurate and rapid retrieval of information
• Provide health education and promote healthy living to the community
• Be available to provide out of hours assistance, (e.g. ‘over the phone’ advice) and in emergency circumstances organise 24 hour and cover time table as when required

• Bachelor Degree in Nursing and Registered Nurse with valid license
• Good spoken and written English skills
• Experience of working with multinational patients
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel, Word, Access, Outlook email
• Knowledge of the health needs of children and young people and able to interact in a positive and caring manner with young people
