Responsibilities
- Plan, supervise, and manage preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and overhaul activities for rolling stock systems in accordance with maintenance procedures, technical standards, and safety requirements.
- Monitor and analyze the condition and performance of rolling stock equipment and subsystems to ensure fleet reliability, availability, and safety.
- Lead overhaul, refurbishment, and life-extension programs for rolling stock components, including bogies, propulsion systems, braking systems, HVAC systems, doors, couplers, auxiliary systems, and onboard equipment.
- Investigate and troubleshoot rolling stock failures, defects, and technical issues, and implement corrective and preventive actions to minimize service disruptions.
- Review maintenance records, fault reports, and technical data to identify trends and opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Develop maintenance plans, overhaul schedules, work instructions, technical reports, and engineering documentation.
- Coordinate maintenance and overhaul activities with Operations, Depot Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, and Safety teams to ensure efficient execution of work.
- Supervise contractors, suppliers, and maintenance personnel involved in overhaul and refurbishment projects.
- Support testing, commissioning, modification, and acceptance activities for rolling stock systems and components.
- Ensure compliance with railway standards, company procedures, quality requirements, and safety regulations.
- Participate in incident investigations and prepare technical reports related to rolling stock failures and operational events.
- Provide technical guidance, coaching, and support to technicians and junior engineers within the Rolling Stock team.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing fleet performance, maintainability, reliability, and operational efficiency.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Line Manager.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Railway Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in rolling stock maintenance, overhaul, railway systems, or heavy industrial maintenance is preferred.
- Knowledge and/or experience in railway bogie systems and rolling stock underframe components.
- Understanding of wheelsets, axles, axle bearings, primary and secondary suspension systems, and related mechanical components.
- Knowledge of bogie-mounted braking systems, including brake discs, brake calipers, and associated equipment.
- Experience in inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and overhaul of bogie systems and components.
- Ability to perform wheel profile measurements, back-to-back measurements, and other wheelset inspections in accordance with maintenance standards.
- Familiarity with bogie overhaul, refurbishment, wheelset replacement, and component renewal activities.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, assembly drawings, technical manuals, and maintenance procedures.
- Knowledge of railway safety standards, rolling stock maintenance requirements, and quality procedures.
- Experience in root cause analysis and failure investigation related to bogie, suspension, wheelset, and running gear systems is an advantage.
- Proficiency in using mechanical measuring instruments and maintenance tools related to bogie maintenance activities.
- Experience in car lifting operations, bogie removal and installation, wheelset replacement, and heavy maintenance activities is highly preferred.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with metro, railway, light rail, or mass transit rolling stock systems will be an advantage.
- Good command of English.
