Responsibilities
- Design and develop electrical systems for ships, including power distribution, lighting, and control systems
- Specify and select electrical equipment suitable for marine environments
- Ensure designs comply with relevant marine electrical standards such as IEC 60092, SOLAS, and IMO regulations
- Prepare detailed electrical drawings and technical documentation using software like AutoCAD Electrical and EPLAN
- Collaborate with mechanical, structural, and systems engineers to integrate electrical systems with overall ship design
- Conduct technical reviews and provide support during ship construction and commissioning phases
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical design issues in marine environments
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Proven experience in electrical design for marine vessels or shipbuilding industry
- Strong knowledge of marine electrical standards and regulations
- Proficiency in electrical design software such as AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar tools
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Experience with marine communication and navigation systems
- Familiarity with classification society requirements (e.g., DNV GL, ABS)
