Responsibilities
The Cost Accounting Department Manager is responsible for managing the full cost accounting system of the organization. The role focuses on delivering deep analytical insights to support strategic decision-making, improving efficiency across the production line and supply chain, and ensuring product costs are accurate and competitive.
Working Days: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM
Mobility: Able to commute/travel between Chatuchak (Bangkok) and Om Yai, Sam Phran (Nakhon Pathom) for work.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Cost Analysis & Decision Support
- Analyze complex cost structures and profitability trends across all product categories and business units.
- Provide actionable insights and data-driven recommendations to Senior Management, sales, and operations for pricing strategies and business expansion.
- Ensure business leaders have accurate, timely cost data to drive efficiency and profitability improvements.
2. Standard Costing Management
- Review, develop, and maintain the Standard Costing system to ensure it accurately reflects current manufacturing processes.
- Oversee the accuracy of Bill of Materials (BOM), Labor rates, and Overhead allocation.
- Utilize standard costs as a primary benchmark to drive manufacturing efficiency and cost reduction initiatives.
- Manage data uploads to the Business Intelligence (BI) system to ensure information is always current and supports variance analysis.
3. Cost Budgeting & Forecasting
- Direct the annual manufacturing cost budgeting process and quarterly rolling forecasts.
- Prepare cost forecasts related to factory and production activities to support financial planning.
- Analyze external economic factors and raw material trends to forecast future cost impacts on the business.
4. Inventory Control & Management
- Oversee physical count and cycle count processes to ensure inventory accuracy in both quantity and value.
- Develop and review policies for slow-moving, obsolete, and expired inventory (SLOB) and idle assets.
- Coordinate with sales, production, and warehouse teams to execute disposals and write-offs in line with approved policies.
5. Team Capability & Succession Planning
- Build a high-performing accounting team through structured skill development programs.
- Identify and develop high-potential talent to prepare succession-ready candidates for key roles.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) is a strong advantage
- Minimum 10 years of experience in manufacturing cost accounting and financial analysis and at least 5 years in a managerial role
- Direct experience in a manufacturing environment is required
Skills & competencies:
- Strong expertise in Standard Costing system design and variance analysis
- Experience in inventory management — both accounting and operational
- Advanced ERP skills, especially cost-related modules (e.g. SAP CO)
- Strategic thinking with the ability to translate cost data into business decisions
- Strong leadership and team-building abilities
- Process improvement mindset with a focus on efficiency and accuracy
- High level of professional integrity and accountability
