• Assist in identifying and developing technical and scientific objectives for the department that align with the organization’s strategic plan and mission; support the implementation of plans to achieve those goals.
• Assist in the analysis and review of physical test results, including the assessment of conformity following decision rules, prior to submission for final approval and report processing.
• Provide hands-on support and focused training to laboratory staff on routine and complex physical testing procedures and techniques, ensuring the consistent application of good laboratory practices.
• Actively assist the Lab Manager in developing and writing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), new laboratory methods, and study designs for physical testing to improve operational efficiency while maintaining quality.
• Maintain awareness of international standards (e.g., ISO) and other governmental regulations related to physical/materials testing and their effect on daily laboratory decisions.
• Conduct regular internal audits of lab practices to ensure continuous compliance with safety and quality standards and assist in reviewing results of external quality assurance programs.
• Offer effective troubleshooting for procedural, technical, or physical instrumentation issues, including the evaluation of test results to identify errors and implement corrective actions.
• Provide input and support to the Lab Manager on process improvements, the feasibility of new projects, procurement, and essential administrative tasks.
• Provide technical clarification for customer enquiries related to physical testing results or capabilities, helping to maintain good customer relationships.
• Support the Lab Manager in the development of team members and assist in resolving minor operational issues between team members as they arise.
