RESPONSIBILITIES : An Accounts Receivable (AR) Supervisor manages the daily operations of the AR department, ensuring that the company receives payments for goods and services accurately and on time. This role reports typically to a Controller or Finance Manager and acts as a bridge between the AR team and upper management.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and train a team of AR clerks and specialists; conduct performance evaluations and set departmental goals.
- Collections Management: Oversee collection activities, including negotiating payment schedules for past-due accounts and managing relationships with third-party collection agencies.
- Reporting & Analysis: Generate and analyze AR aging reports, cash flow forecasts, and key performance indicators (KPIs) like Days Sales Outstanding (DSO).
- Process Improvement: Develop and implement policies to improve invoicing efficiency, reduce bad debt, and leverage automation tools.
- Account Reconciliation: Ensure the AR ledger is reconciled with the general ledger and resolve complex billing discrepancies or customer disputes.
- Credit Oversight: Review commercial credit reports (e.g., Dun & Bradstreet) to assess the creditworthiness of new and existing customers.
- Compliance: Maintain internal controls and ensure adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and relevant financial regulations.
QUALIFICATION & SKILLS :
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: Usually requires 3–7 years of experience in accounts receivable or general accounting, with at least
- 1–2 years in a supervisory role.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
- Language: Good command of English (written and spoken).
- Strong negotiation, conflict resolution, and communication abilities for interacting with delinquent customers and internal stakeholders.
- Certifications of CPD – Continuing Professional Development (Accounting profession).
- Proficiency in ERP systems like IFS, SAP, MFG-Pro, Oracle NetSuite or QuickBooks.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP).
