Purpose of the role
The IT Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the daily operations of the IT department. This includes supervising IT support staff, ensuring the efficient operation of hardware and software systems, and maintaining the organization's IT infrastructure.
The IT Manager will work collaboratively with the ICT Director and other AOI Schools to ensure all systems and technologies are functioning at optimal levels and support the strategic goals of the organization.
This role will require working in a dual language (English and Thai) environment, with mainly English used to communicate with academic staff, students and parents.
The specific duties of this position are listed below:
IT Team Leadership
- Be the line manager for staff assigned to the IT Department including ensuring:
During term time that IT office is staffed from 7.30am until 4pm
Coordination and approval of leave and holiday requests to ensure that there is adequate staffing in the school
Active support and participation in the performance management of the IT Team
There is prompt and effective responses to helpdesk requests in line with the relevant SLA
- Organise and provide appropriate guidance, mentoring and training for the IT Team
- Represent the IT department at meetings as required
- Advise school leadership on appropriate staffing for the IT Department and take an active role in any recruitment for the department.
Technology Management
- Ensure the school network and internet access are effectively and reliably available to students, teachers and other staff, with adequate precautions to prevent and detect misuse of the system
- Assist the ICT Director and School Leadership in preparing and implementing strategic planning for technology use
- Manage information technology and computer systems (physical, virtual and online systems) for non-academic uses with a focus on maintaining data security
- In collaboration with the ICT Director manage information technology and computer systems (physical, virtual and online systems) for academic uses
- Collaborate with Heads of Department to ensure important data is protected and that adequate back up copies are maintained
- Support the Data Protection Officer to ensure that there is correct and appropriate data protection for all members of the school community
- Support the Head of Security with regards to CCTV, Access control or other technology systems
- Monitor and ensure the security of network systems (Wired and wireless)
- Ensure there are appropriate processes in place to ensure relevant software patches and updates are deployed to all school systems and undertake periodic checks to verify this is occurring
- Support and assist the Procurement Department, when requested, with obtaining quotations and identifying suppliers for both software and hardware
- In collaboration with the Procurement Department manage relationships with IT vendors, suppliers, and service providers. - Negotiate contracts and ensure the quality of services provided
- Advise as needed with regards to hardware and software purchases, including assessing needs
-Be available as the key emergency contact for major technology issues including outside school hours
Budget and Project Management
- Propose and, once approved, manage the IT budgets

- Internet filtering and logging

Centralised Printing system
Purchase Order and Budget management system
- Maintain accurate documentation of IT systems, processes, and procedures
