Responsibilities

Performs husbandry care of various species of laboratory animals to include housing, feeding, watering, sanitation and proper environmental conditions to maintain the highest quality care of the laboratory animals and especially experimental animals in research study protocols of GLP compliance. Observes and records animal health and behavior and reports animal illnesses and death to the veterinary technician or veterinarian-on-duty and/or the Principal Investigator or the Study Director (for any GLP study) in a timely manner so appropriate treatment can be carried out. Assists veterinarians or research investigators in animal examination or treatment, veterinary procedures or techniques to support routine veterinary activities and research protocols.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in any field. Degrees in animal science, biology, or veterinary technology will be given special consideration; or an equivalent qualification such as an Associate degree (Diploma/Vocational/Technical) with at least 10 years of experience working with laboratory animals of any species or experience in GLP studies.
2. Male applicants must have completed military service or the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC).
3. Experience working with laboratory animals, animal husbandry, animal research, veterinary support activities, or GLP-regulated studies is highly desirable.
4. Demonstrated ability to observe animal health, behavior, and welfare, recognize abnormalities, and promptly communicate findings to veterinary staff and investigators.
5. Position requires employee to wear protective clothing/gear.
6. Level II (Limited Knowledge) of English skills, able to understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance and communicate during simple and routine tasks. You can submit a copy of valid TOEIC score (Listening and Reading Section) of at least 400, or pass the English Placement Test (EPT) that is conducted by AFRIMS.
7. Practice compassionate and ethical approach to animal care, have excellent communication skills with colleagues, and dedicate to practicing the highest quality of services.
8. Ability to lift and move heavy items (e.g., cages, equipment, feed).
9. Practice compassionate animal care, have excellent communication skills with colleagues, and dedicate to practicing the highest quality of services.
10. Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and after-hours as required to support animal care operations. Able to perform animal husbandry and animal cages and rooms sanitation.
11. Problem-solving skills to address any issues that arise with animal care or equipment.
12. Basic computer skills for data entry and record maintenance and able to use basic computer software such as Microsoft word, excel etc.
13. Some positions may require the ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA:
(1) Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy.
(2) The candidate must be able to obtain and hold medical and security clearances.
(3) The candidate must submit all the required documents as requested.
(4) Current employees serving a probation period are not eligible to apply.
