Responsibilities

Responsibilities

Works under the guidance of the Principal Investigator in the Bacteriology and Vaccinology Laboratory. As a research technician, conducts bacterial identification and characterization to support the primary research mission of the department Bacterial and Parasitic Diseases.


Key responsibilities include:

• Perform specimen processing to identify enteric bacteria, intestinal protozoa, multi-drug resistant bacteria, and Neisseria gonorrhoeae, as assigned.
• Perform bacterial characterization, including antimicrobial susceptibility testing, broth microdilution, time-kill kinetic, and biofilm assays, as assigned.
• Develop methodology and write SOP to support the research projects.
• Coordinate with multiple study sites to support training, technical assistance, and laboratory supplies. Able to travel outside of Bangkok, as necessary.
• Oversee laboratory data management, guaranteeing precise preparation, analysis, and maintenance through computer systems. 
• Monitor and update inventory of etiologic agents, equipment, chemical reagents, and laboratory supplies.
• Provide general administrative and research support as needed.


Qualifications

EDUCATION:
• Master’s degree in Science (Microbiology, Medical Technology, or equivalent) is required. 
EXPERIENCE:
• A minimum of three (3) years of experience in microbiology research, including coordinating research with different teams, writing SOPs, and handling purchasing orders.
• Experience in performing identification of enteric bacteria, intestinal parasites, multi-drug resistant bacteria, and Neisseria gonorrhoeae.
• Experience in performing antimicrobial susceptibility testing, broth microdilution assay, time-kill kinetic, and biofilm assays.
LANGUAGE:
• Proficiency in English (Level III-Good working knowledge for speaking, reading, writing English) is required.
• A TOEIC is required. 
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Strong expertise in microbiology research.
• Experienced in coordinating research projects and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
• Skilled in SOP development and laboratory administration, including procurement.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Strong computer skills, with proficiency in commonly used office software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
