Responsibilities

Required Skills & Experience


Technical Skills


Experience supporting PACS and/or VNA systems in a healthcare environment

  • Deep understanding of PACS architecture, image lifecycle, archive management, prefetching, routing rules, image compression, storage optimization, and disaster recovery strategies
  • Strong knowledge of DICOM standards including MWL, MPPS, Storage Commitment, Query/Retrieve, DICOM Print, Structured Reporting (SR), DICOM Routing, DICOM Node configuration, AE Title management, Transfer Syntax, and Calling/Called AE troubleshooting
  • Ability to perform modality onboarding, testing, validation, and go-live support for new imaging devices
  • DICOM standards and workflows
  • HL7/FHIR integration
  • Imaging lifecycle and archival concepts 


Server and Database

  • Windows Server and/or Linux
  • Enterprise storage (SAN / NAS / object / S3)
  • Virtualization platforms
  • Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls)
  • Database Management for PACS and/or VNA 

Network

  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, VLAN, VPN, Firewall, NAT, Load Balancer, Routing, Subnetting, and network latency troubleshooting
  • Ability to diagnose network bottlenecks affecting image transmission, modality connectivity, and PACS performance 

Integrations

  • Strong expertise in healthcare system integration between PACS, RIS, HIS, EMR, LIS, CVIS, and third-party systems
  • Advanced knowledge of HL7 messaging standards including ADT, ORM, ORU, SIU, DFT, and MDM
  • Experience with interface engines such as Mirth Connect, Cloverleaf, Rhapsody, Ensemble, or equivalent middleware
  • Ability to analyze interface logs, message mapping, routing failures, duplicate records, patient mismatch, accession conflicts, and downstream workflow disruptions
  • Familiarity with IHE profiles and interoperability standards is highly preferred

  • Vendor certifications (PACS, VNA, storage, or healthcare IT) are an advantage
  • PMP, ITIL, Microsoft, VMware, Cisco, or Healthcare IT certifications 

Experiences

  • Experience with major PACS vendors such as GE Healthcare, Philips, Siemens Healthineers, Fujifilm, Agfa, Sectra, INFINITT, Carestream, or Merge
  • Experience in regional hospital group projects or multi-site enterprise deployment
  • Experience with Cloud PACS, VNA, Enterprise Imaging, and AI-assisted radiology workflow solutions
  • Experience in PACS replacement, large-scale migration, and hospital digital transformation projects
  • Proven experience in PACS implementation, installation, system configuration, upgrade, migration, and post-go-live support
  • Strong hands-on experience in diagnostic imaging environments including Radiology, Cardiology, Pathology, and Enterprise Imaging workflows
  • Experience supporting and integrating multiple imaging modalities such as CT, MRI, Ultrasound, CR/DR, Mammography, Cath Lab, Fluoroscopy, Endoscopy, and Nuclear Medicine
