Responsibilities

  • Plan, supervise, and manage preventive maintenance (PM) and corrective maintenance (CM) activities for the railway trackwork system in accordance with project requirements, maintenance standards, and safety regulations.
  • Monitor and analyze the condition of railway tracks and track components, utilizing inspection data and condition monitoring results to develop effective maintenance strategies
  • Supervise maintenance activities related to rails, sleepers, fastening systems, ballastless track structures, turnouts (switches and crossings), and other trackwork components.
  • Investigate, analyze, and troubleshoot track-related defects, failures, and abnormal conditions, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Review maintenance records, inspection reports, and technical data to identify trends and opportunities for improving system reliability and performance.
  • Coordinate and supervise contractors, technicians, and maintenance teams to ensure maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with established procedures.
  • Prepare maintenance plans, technical reports, work instructions, risk assessments, and engineering documentation related to trackwork activities.
  • Support testing, commissioning, inspection, and acceptance activities for new trackwork installations, modifications, or renewal projects.
  • Participate in incident investigations and prepare technical reports regarding track-related failures, service disruptions, or safety events.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable safety, quality, environmental, and railway operational standards.
  • Provide technical guidance, coaching, and support to technicians and junior engineers within the Trackwork team.
  • Coordinate with other railway maintenance disciplines, including Signaling, Power Supply, Rolling Stock, and Operations, to ensure safe and reliable railway service.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Line Manager.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Railway Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 1–5 years of experience in railway trackwork maintenance, railway construction, infrastructure maintenance, or a related engineering field.
  • Knowledge of railway track systems, including rails, sleepers, fastening systems, ballastless track, turnouts (switches and crossings), and rail welding.
  • Familiarity with track inspection techniques, track geometry measurement, and condition monitoring systems.
  • Understanding of railway maintenance standards, engineering specifications, and safety regulations applicable to railway operations.
  • Ability to analyze track defects, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Experience in planning and supervising preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and track renewal activities.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, maintenance procedures, and construction documents.
  • Knowledge of railway possession planning, worksite protection, and safe system of work practices.
  • Experience in managing contractors, maintenance teams, and trackwork projects is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Good communication, coordination, and teamwork skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; experience with maintenance management systems (CMMS/SAP/MAXIMO) is an advantage.
  • Good command of English, both written and spoken.
  • Willingness to work shifts, nights, weekends, and during maintenance possessions when required.
