History of the Thai Chamber of Commerce

The Thai Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit trade organization whose establishment was accomplished through the efforts of some Thai businessmen in 1932. Initially, it went under the name of “Siamese Chamber of Commerce” and was intended to be a spokesman for the private sector and to act as a coordinator between businessmen and authorities. The Siamese Chamber of Commerce officially came into being on March 8, 1933 and its first office was located in Captain Bush Lane of Siphraya Road. Later, in the year of 1966, The Thai Government enacted the Chamber of Commerce Act B.E. 2509, to recognize the activities of the Chamber according to its objectives. Its membership was opened to the Bangkok business community and was also composed of all the provincial chambers of commerce throughout the country. Over 75 years, The Thai Chamber of Commerce has played a major role in collaborating with the Government to solve economic problems and to strengthen Thai economy.

Main Objectives
- To render assistance and support to all sectors of the business community for the benefit of local trade, industry, agriculture, finance and overall economy.
- To render advice to government agencies by conducting research and submitting proposals for the development of the national economy.
- To render advisory services and assistance to facilitate members in the operation of their business.
- To act as a coordinator in trade matters between private and public sectors.
- To support and sponsor charitable events and public welfare programs.
- To have no concern with politics.
