Responsibilities
1. Circulation & Organisation
- Check-in/Check-out: Managing the front desk, scanning books, and updating the library database.
- Shelving: Returning books to their correct locations to ensure the library remains navigable.
- Inventory: Assisting with periodic removing of old/damaged books and annual audits of the collection.
2. Student & Teacher Support
- Helping students use our catalog provision.
- Reader’s Advisory: Recommending books to students based on their interests and reading levels.
- Tech Support: Troubleshooting basic printer issues, assisting with Chromebooks, or helping students navigate educational software such as Razz kids.
3. Administrative & Creative Tasks
- Processing Materials: Covering new books with plastic jackets, adding barcodes, and applying spine labels.
- Displays: Creating engaging, seasonal, or theme-based bulletin boards and book displays to encourage reading.
- Supervision: Maintaining a productive, quiet environment and managing student behavior during study periods, lunch periods, or after school until 4.30pm
4. Single Library Supervision
- Overseeing one of the two libraries whilst the Librarian is managing the other, or covering one library when the librarian is absent/taking breaks - this will be scheduled on an equitable rota basis.
Qualifications
A School Library Assistant at SBS Bangkok plays a vital role in keeping the school library provision running smoothly. While the Librarian focuses on curriculum and management, the Assistant is the ‘boots on the ground’ ensuring students find what they need and the collection stays organised.Core Responsibilities
