Responsibilities
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Cloud Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and ongoing management of our VMware-based infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in VMware technologies, a strategic mindset for cloud and virtualization platforms, and the ability to work in complex, hybrid environments. This role is critical in ensuring the scalability, reliability, and performance of our virtualized environments to support mission-critical applications and services.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Architecture
- Lead the design of scalable and secure VMware infrastructure solutions (vSphere, vSAN, NSX, etc.).
- Evaluate and recommend virtualization solutions aligned with business and technical requirements.
- Create and maintain architectural documentation, HLDs and LLDs for VMware infrastructure.
Implementation & Migration
- Deploy, configure, and optimize vSphere hosts, clusters, and virtual networks.
- Plan and execute migrations from physical to virtual environments or between VMware environments.
- Implement enterprise backup and disaster recovery solutions for virtual machines.
Operations & Management
- Proactively monitor the health, performance, and capacity of VMware environments.
- Perform lifecycle management (patching, upgrades, and maintenance) of VMware infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot and resolve advanced technical issues related to virtualization and compute environments.
Security & Compliance
- Apply VMware security best practices and ensure compliance with relevant frameworks (ISO, NIST, etc.).
- Integrate VMware infrastructure with security monitoring tools and auditing systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with VMware vSphere ecosystem.
- Proven experience designing and operating complex enterprise-grade virtual environments.
Certifications (Preferred)
- VMware Certified Professional – Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV)
- VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP) or VMware Certified Design Expert (VCDX)
- Knowledge of cloud integration (Veeam, Acronis, Cloud Security)
Skills
- Strong command of vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, vSAN, NSX, and vRealize Suite.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation (PowerCLI, Python, Ansible).
- Experience with backup tools (Veeam, Commvault), monitoring, and disaster recovery.
- Solid understanding of storage, networking, and hybrid cloud architecture.
Soft Skills
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong documentation and presentation abilities.
