Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the Quality Assurance (QA) system in accordance with Group standards to ensure the quality of raw materials and finished garments.
- Implement Group-wide initiatives to enhance the QA system.
- Communicate regularly with Customer Service & Planning (CSP) and meet directly with customers, where possible, to understand requirements and preferences for QA system improvements.
- Audit personally and hold the immediate team accountable for following standard procedures within the Group QA system.
- Collaborate with CSP to provide training on customer quality standards to QA/QC teams and relevant functions such as Operations and AAMT.
- Conduct regular examinations to assess understanding of quality standards.
- Hold Immediate Employees (IEs) accountable for organizing and overseeing customer final inspections, and provide personal involvement as needed.
- Hold IEs accountable for auditing compliance with the metal-free inspection system and needle-control system.
- Collaborate with customers to provide suggestions and advice for continuous quality improvement through the quality assurance process.
- Participate in pre-production meetings, as needed, to understand customer requirements for upcoming styles and highlight potential quality problems.
- Review internal and customer quality reports regularly to identify quality trends and improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate with other functions (e.g., Operations, CS, and GT) to identify root causes of quality issues and support solution development.
- Define and communicate the concept of quality mindset and establish measurements for assessing it.
- Create and lead factory-wide quality mindset programs (e.g., 5S, quality competitions) and track performance against defined metrics.
- Identify key expectations of QC Inspectors for their jobs.
- Meet key expectations of QC Inspectors, where appropriate, and build and maintain effective, respectful working relationships to drive high QC Inspector engagement.
- Communicate the broader business context (e.g., world, country, industry, Group, customer, and inter-departmental considerations) to IEs for work planning and execution.
- Establish processes for regular meetings and hold IEs accountable for effective and collaborative teamwork at their level.
- Agree on SMART goals and assignments with each IE, provide continuous managerial guidance and feedback, and support performance enhancement in their current role.
- Conduct mid-year progress reviews and determine year-end performance appraisal ratings for IEs.
- Assess the strengths and development needs of each IE and coach them in developing their Functional, Skills, and Knowledge (FSKs) and Managerial Leadership Competencies (MLCs) in line with their current Role Profile.
- Provide differential recognition and recommendations for reward incentives (pay, promotion, development opportunities) for IEs.
- Recommend re-assignment or termination of IEs, where appropriate, supported by a fair due process and structured performance improvement program.
- Provide an appeals process for Employees-one-Down (EoDs) who have a grievance with their Immediate Manager (IM).
- Assess the future potential of Employees-one-Down (EoDs) in terms of future manpower requirements.
- Establish mentoring relationships and career development programs with individual EoDs based on future manpower requirements, assessment of individual potential, and individual interests.
- Identify and prepare a minimum of two potential successors for each IE, where relevant and within an agreed timeframe.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Textile Engineering, Garment Technology, Fashion Design, Industrial Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 8–10 years of experience in quality assurance or quality control within the garment/apparel manufacturing industry, including at least 3–5 years in a managerial role.
- Comprehensive understanding of garment production processes, including fabric inspection, cutting, sewing, finishing, packing, and final inspection standards.
- Proven experience in implementing and maintaining quality management systems and quality improvement programs.
- In-depth understanding of international quality standards, AQL, SOPs, and customer-specific quality requirements.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, train, and develop QA/QC teams effectively.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions.
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and customers.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to perform effectively under pressure in a production environment.
- Good command of English; additional language skills are an advantage.
- Proficiency in MS Office and relevant quality management/reporting tools.
