Responsibilities

What you'll be doing

  • Implement long-term plans and global/regional procurement strategies for category development locally

  • Execute strategic procurement programs that support local operations in alignment with global and regional guidelines

  • Work strategically with the Regional Procurement team and local service providers

  • Align and implement regional policies, procedures, and standards within the local team and support business development functions

  • Manage, develop, and maintain strategic relationships with ocean carriers, co-loaders, and transportation service providers

  • Source, identify, negotiate, and register qualified local service providers to support business growth and operations

  • Lead and conduct carrier bidding events (RFQs/Tenders), including comprehensive pre-bid and post-bid analysis

  • Manage, update, and maintain freight rate schedules and benchmark rates for customer costing

  • Monitor market trends and regulatory changes affecting freight operations, proactively communicating potential impacts to management

  • Solve daily operational challenges related to carriers and co-loaders locally and across the overseas network

Qualifications

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • 7–15 years of experience in carrier procurement, freight forwarding, and transportation management.

  • Strong analytical and strategic mindset with proven rate negotiation skills.

  • Good knowledge of freight operational computer systems, CargoWise (CW1), and Dangerous Goods (DG) handling.

  • Understanding of ISO 9001 & ISO 14001 quality management standards and compliance policies.

  • Good command of spoken and written English.

  • Strong managerial, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

  • Professional personality with a service-oriented mindset.

Job Summary

In this Assistant Manager, Freight Procurement & Network Development role, you will play a pivotal part in driving local freight procurement strategies and category development. You will work strategically with the Regional Procurement team and local service providers to execute programs aligned with global and regional guidelines. Your responsibilities will include managing, developing, and maintaining strategic relationships with ocean carriers, co-loaders, and transportation service providers, as well as sourcing, negotiating, and registering new qualified providers to support business growth. Furthermore, you will lead carrier bidding events, manage freight rate schedules, monitor market trends and regulatory changes, and resolve daily operational challenges to ensure efficient and effective freight operations.
